This physiotherapy technique is used to address myofascial pain and movement impairments. The technique is performed by your physiotherapist using fine, solid needles to stimulate muscle tissue. The needle is inserted directly into the tight muscle. Nothing is injected into the skin or muscle. Clients may experience some discomfort during and after sessions. Sensations are often described as muscle ache, muscle soreness and muscle twitch. There is usually some soreness post session but within 24-48 hours improvement in symptoms are typically noted. Length of relief varies from person to person. Initial results typically last several days and with each additional treatment the goal is to increase the length of relief.
